*Compounded medications are not, and must not be confused with, brand name, FDA-approved medications. Texas Obesity Medicine, PLLC ("Texas Obesity Medicine") provides access to compounded medications for medically-qualified patients, as determined by a licensed prescriber. Texas Obesity Medicine is not a pharmacy and is not regulated under Sections 503A or 503B of the federal Food Drug and Cosmetics Act. Texas Obesity Medicine is a medical practice regulated under the laws, rules, and regulations of the state of Texas and the Texas Medical Board and only provides services to patients in the state of Texas. Texas Obesity Medicine prescribes medications as determined by a licensed provider following a review of medical history and patient presentation in an appropriate patient-provider encounter, whether virtual or in-person. Prescribers at Texas Obesity Medicine may, but are not required to or guaranteed to, prescribe compounded medications, if medically indicated. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and there is a possibility that they may differ in risks, benefits, and side-effects from FDA-approved products. Individual results and experiences may vary. Novo Nordisk Inc. and Eli Lilly and Company are the only U.S. manufacturers of FDA-approved semaglutide (Rybelsus©, Ozempic©, Wegovy©) and tirzepatide (Zepbound©, Mounjaro©), respectively. These manufacturers do not sell these medications for compounding purposes. The Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") has stated that "[c]ompounded drugs . . . do not have the same safety, quality, and effectiveness assurances as approved drugs" and "[u]nnecessary use of compounded drugs unnecessarily exposes patients to potentially serious health risks." Only FDA-approved medications have been found to be safe and effective by the FDA. The FDA has stated that "[t]he safety and effectiveness of combining semaglutide with other ingredients," including B-vitamins, "has not been established." The safety and effectiveness of combining tirzepatide with other ingredients has likewise not been established by the FDA. GLP-1 medications compounded with B-vitamins do not offer any established enhanced weight loss benefits, and can only be prescribed by order of a licensed prescriber when medically indicated. Payment of a membership fee does not guarantee prescription of any medication, and your prescriber will determine what medication(s), including name brand, generic, and/or compounded medications, are indicated for your condition(s). If compounded medications are medically indicated as determined by a properly licensed prescriber, prescriptions will be sent to an appropriate facility in the state of Texas for fulfillment.
